British Parliament Calls For Ofcom Review On Online Gambling Advertisement
Concerned it might be too aggressive

19-01-12: Members of the British Parliament have said that they are concerned about "aggressive publicity techniques of online betting firms", which has led to Liberal Democrat MP Tessa Munt calling for an Ofcom Review of online gambling advertising.

Unhappy with the 36 hours of advertisement a week, she spoke out, saying, "at a time when there is £1.45 trillion of personal debt in this country & when we are encouraging people to be moderate in their expectations & behaviour, will the Prime Minister please protect consumers, children & the vulnerable from this kind of activity by asking for a review by Ofcom."

Prime Minister David Cameron responded by saying, "Anyone who enjoys watching a football match will see quite aggressive advertisements on the television, & I think companies have to ask themselves whether they are behaving responsibly when they do that."
